In an endeavour to improve the responsiveness of the police to the needs and aspirations of the people, the CPRC has been established at district headquarters Rupnagar.  CPRC works as a single-point public interface under which various schemes are being implemented. The CPRC helps police in delivering people friendly and responsive administration, thereby coming up to the expectations of the people. The centre also involves community in tackling crime and to implement community-oriented schemes in partnership with NGOs, grass root organizations and other government departments. The CPRC is closely monitored by SSP and SP (HQ). /p>

SINGLE WINDOW SYSTEM : Earlier people had to go to different offices and police stations for no-objection certificates, verifications, submission of complaints, etc. and the whole process was very cumbersome & time-consuming.  The single window clearance deals with various demands of the people like no-objection certificate, demand for security, permission for use of loud speaker/orchestra at religious and social places, request for security arrangements at political/sports/religious and social functions, verifications of servants and tenants, verification for registration of vehicles, etc.  This branch also maintains link with the SSP office about day to day security related affairs. It is the most important organ of CPRC. It has information on variety of issues like status of verifications, complaints, arms licenses, stolen motor vehicle information, etc.  It provides telephone numbers of political leaders, civil and police officers, emergency numbers.  It helps people in providing relevant information on procedures, rules and regulations, safety measures etc.

To carry out the smooth and efficient functioning of CPRC, software have been developed on passport verification, service verification, arms licences, motor vehicle verification, national status, complaints etc.  With the use of software the information is retrieved immediately and caller is given the feedback. Thus, the complainants need not to go around knowing about the status of his complaint or any kind of verification.  He/she gets information on telephone itself without waiting time.

Progress of Community Policing initiatives
As per instructions contained in the Director General of Police, Punjab, Chandigarha™s standing order No. 1/2003, CPRC has been established in District Police Office Rupnagar in a well-furnished room. This centre was registered on 03.09.2004 under the Societies Registration Act (XXI of 1860) as amended by Punjab Amendment Act, 1957. Present Facilities.
