I extend greetings to all citizens on taking over as chief of one of the finest police forces; and assure that our primary objective remains control of crime, maintenance of law & order and efficient delivery of police services to the citizens. I want to bridge the gap between the police and the public, and shall always be available round-the-clock to the citizens of Rupnagar who can contact me by meeting personally, on telephone, or by sending e-mail or fax. I have asked all the officers and men to be accessible to public, and responsive to grievances. Community policing would be a corner stone of our policing philosophy, and we would be striving to build police-citizen partnerships.

The rapid urbanisation in the state has thrown new challenges and we would come up with effective urban policing strategies and develop the police infrastructure in the state. I have asked my officers to utilise the information technology tools for better crime management.

Since Rupnagar remains a important district of the Punjab, we are fully alive to the challenges posed by the threat of terrorism and one of my objectives is to re-vitalise the counter terrorism and counter intelligence apparatus in the district. We would develop appropriate counter measures including effective intelligence support and internal security would be a key priority area.

It is matter of pride for me to lead such a gallant force, and the welfare of our men remains foremost. I am reaching out to all the ranks of Rupnagar police who are welcome to get in touch with me for resolution of any problems. I urge the members of the Rupnagar police to function in a professional manner and to respond to calls from citizens. I seek the cooperation of all sections of society in preventing and detecting crimes, while assuring them of our full support.
