Chamkaur Sahib :
Chamkaur Sahib is another religious and historical place, which falls in this district. Here Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji along with his two elder sons and 40 followers had come from Kotla Nihang. The Gurudwara Katalgarh Sahib, occupies a unique place among all the religious places located at Chamkaur Sahib. It is built at the site where Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Jhujjar Singh, elder sons of Guru Gobind Singh along with their followers fell while fighting against the Mughal army.A big fair known a Sheheedi Jor Mela lasting for three days is held in the month of December at Chamkaur Sahib to commemorate the martyrdom of the elder sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Religious dewans are also organized.


 

Kiratpur Sahib

Ganguwal Power House, Kiratpur Sahib

Situated on the bank of river Sutlej, Kiratpur Sahib is at a distance of about 10 km from Anandpur Sahib towards the south, on the Nangal-Rupnagar-Chandigarh road. It is sacred to the Sikhs and they immerse the ashes of their dead at this place. It has a long association with most of the Sikh Gurus. Guru Nanak Dev is said to have visited this place when it was little more than a wilderness, Guru Hargobind, the sixth Guru spent the last few years of his life here. There are several Gurudwara at this place like Gurudwara Charan Kamal, Gurudwara Baba Gurditta, Tomb of Baba Buddan Shah, Gurudwara Bavangarh, Gurudwara Pata Puri and Gurudwara Shish Mahal.

Shiv Mandir at Jatwahar

Shivmandir of Jateshwer Mahadev at Jatwahar village in Nurpur Bedi Block and Shiv Ashram Mojowal near Nangal. Popularly known as Shiv Mandir Jatwahar, it is an ancient temple of the times of Mahabharata and is situated on Rupnagar-Nurpurbedi road about 5 KMs form village Bains. The temple is held in great reverence and is visited by the devotees from various parts of Punjab and also from the adjoining states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Shiv Mandir, Mojowal is situated on Nangal-Bhalan road.

Gurudwara Bhatta Sahib

Ganguwal Power House, Kiratpur SahibGurudwara Bhatta Sahib is situated in the village Kotla Nihang, at the outskirts of Rupnagar town. It was built in the memory of Guru Gobind Singh. After leaving Anandpur Sahib, the Guru pursued by the enemy reached Kotla Nihang and asked the Pathans there to give him shelter. The latter, jestingly pointed out to a lime-kiln as the only fit place for him to stay.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Lord William-Bentick

A Historic meeting between Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Lord Willam Bentinck, the Governor General of India took place at Ropar on the Bank of Satluj under a PIPAL TREE on 26th October, 1831. Ostnsibly, the Governer General met the Maharaja to show to the world that he and the Maharaja were friendly. Various boundary issues were settled between Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the British.

Gurudwara Sadabarat

Ganguwal Power House, Kiratpur Sahib

Gurdwara Sadabarat is situated on Nangal Road. It is said to have been built in 1930 . The place where now Gurudwara Sada Barat stands was an important halting place for the merchants and other travellers coming from and going to hilly areas. It is said that even Guru nanak Dev stayed at this place while returning from Kiratpur Sahib after meeting Baba Buddan Shah there. Later on Guru Hargobind halted at this place while proceeding from Kartarpur to Kiratpur Sahib.
